Is it too late for me to get braces if I'm an adult?
Never! Modern orthodontics offers discreet solutions such as invisible aligners or the Safir appliance, which are ideal for adults who want a straight smile without compromising their everyday appearance.
How long does orthodontic treatment take, on average?
The length of time you'll need to wear braces varies depending on the issue you're dealing with, the complexity of the case, and the type of braces you choose.
What happens if I don't wear my retainer at the end?
Without retention, teeth have a natural tendency to return to their original „crooked” position. The retention phase is essential for maintaining the results for life.
If I have dental crowns or bridges, can I still wear braces?
Yes, braces can be placed on crowns as well, but the brackets are bonded with a special adhesive. The dentist will assess whether the abutments of the bridges allow for tooth movement or whether the bridge needs to be sectioned.
Do braces cause sores on the cheeks?
In the first few days, braces may cause some mild discomfort. We provide patients with special orthodontic wax to cover the protruding areas until the mucosa adjusts.
What dietary restrictions do I have with my fixed braces?
Very hard foods (nuts, pistachios) and sticky foods (caramels, gum) should be avoided, as they can dislodge the brackets or bend the wires. Hard fruits (apples) should be eaten in slices, not by biting into them directly.
Why do I need to have X-rays taken before the procedure?
Panoramic X-rays and lateral cephalometric X-rays are essential for visualizing tooth roots, bone density, and the relationship between the jaws. Without them, treatment planning is impossible.
