- Fluoridation (optional): Applying gels with a high fluoride content to strengthen tooth enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.
When is it recommended?
Team Dr. Nicolau recommends a complete professional dental cleaning (scaling, polishing, Airflow) at least once a year.
For patients who smoke, those with complex dental restorations (crowns, bridges), those wearing orthodontic appliances, or those predisposed to periodontal disease, we recommend undergoing prophylaxis once every 6 months.
All-On-6/4® Dental Implants
All-On-6® / All-On-4 dental implant procedures allow a patient to replace all of their teeth with 6 or 4 natural-looking dental implants. These implants typically do not require bone grafting, making them an ideal solution for patients with low bone density or volume in the jaw. Over time, the implants placed in the jaw will fuse with the bone, restoring a natural smile.

Why do I need a professional cleaning if I brush my teeth at home?
Brushing at home cannot completely remove tartar (dental calculus) or bacterial plaque from hard-to-reach areas. Professional dental cleaning (scaling, polishing, Airflow) removes these deposits, prevents cavities and gum disease, and restores your teeth’s natural shine.
How often should I sanitize?
We recommend a preventive dental checkup at least once a year; however, for smokers or people prone to rapid tartar buildup, we recommend checkups every 6 months.
Why do I need Airflow if I've already had my teeth scaled?
Scaling removes hard deposits, while Airflow uses a jet of water, air, and baking soda to clean fine stains from coffee, tea, or tobacco in hard-to-reach interdental spaces, leaving your teeth whiter and smoother.
Is it normal for your gums to bleed after brushing?
If there is pre-existing inflammation, mild tenderness or bleeding is normal for 24–48 hours as the gums begin to heal after the bacteria have been removed.
