Indications
When You Need a Prosthetic Restoration
The dentist will recommend the type of treatment after examining your teeth and X-rays.
Severely damaged tooth
The tooth can no longer be restored with a filling, but the root is healthy and can support a crown.
One or more missing teeth
A bridge or an implant-supported restoration closes the gap and allows you to chew normally.
Worn-down teeth
The teeth have lost some of their height due to wear—for example, from grinding—and need to be restored.

How the treatment works
The number of visits depends on the type and extent of the procedure. Your doctor will let you know this from the start.

The First Visit
Consultation and Plan
The dentist examines your teeth, takes X-rays, and presents you with treatment options, along with the cost of each.

Preparation
Tooth Preparation
The teeth are prepared for the procedure. If necessary, a root canal is performed first, or a post is placed.

Impression
Impression and Temporary Restoration
An impression is taken, and until the work is completed, you’ll wear a temporary crown to protect the tooth.

Last visit
Fitting the final restoration
The dentist checks the fit, color, and bite, then permanently cements the restoration made in the lab.

Answers About Prosthetic Work
Zirconia is very durable and is recommended especially for back teeth. eMax ceramic has a translucency similar to that of natural teeth and is used primarily for front teeth.
How long it lasts depends on oral hygiene, your bite, and regular checkups. With proper care, a crown can last for many years.
An implant does not require grinding down the adjacent teeth. A bridge can be made more quickly, but the abutment teeth must be prepared. Your dentist will explain the options that are right for you.
Ceramic crowns are made to match the shade of your teeth. eMax ceramic has a translucency similar to that of natural teeth, so the difference is hard to notice.
Temporary crowns are cemented with a weaker cement so they can be easily removed. If it comes loose, call us as soon as possible so we can reattach it and protect the prepared tooth.
All-on-4 and All-on-6 restorations are fixed, anchored to implants, and are cleaned by brushing, just like natural teeth. A denture with clasps is removed for cleaning.
